They knew they would be coming, from somewhere in the distance, a raging horde. But the spring was unmindful of their growing unease.
Sometimes we read about a world and want so very much to be able to walk in it, feel and know it like we would a real place. We so often forget how close to fantasy some parts of the real world are. Anything that is different from what we know of every day lives can be fantastical. Today I’m going to share with you some photographs I’ve taken over the years of some places that just beg to slip into the realms of fantasy and take us with.
I encourage everyone to travel. Even if you can only make a weekend day trip to a local park or historical preservation, try it. Leave behind the heavy bags, all the travel guides and pamphlets and guides and wander by yourself. Some of the best moments I’ve had exploring this planet are the ones that happened when I was lost or surprised by events.
If you know where these places are, wonderful. I’m going to leave it to your imaginations for now, just so you don’t write them off as unreachable dreamlands. I often find myself flummoxed by people who tell me they could never experience my life. I say you can, if you just walk out your front door, like Bilbo Baggins. You just have to leave your house, your dorm, your apartment, your comfortable desk and TV and see where you end up.
I didn’t expect to find this temple in the middle of the battlements, but I supposed I should have known, we all need comfort, in times of danger.
Enjoy. Remember, after the 6 o’clock news that’s now the 24 hours news is turned off, the phone has lost battery and you’re laptop is dead, life may have just started. Escape, now and again.
Sometimes, we should experience and not just watch.
